ABA Therapy in Honolulu

Compassionate, evidence-based ABA therapy for children with autism — at our Liliha Street clinic or in your home, anywhere on Oʻahu.

ABA therapy that starts with connection

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a research-based therapy that helps children with autism and other developmental differences learn important life, communication, and social skills. At Golden Rule ABA, connection and understanding come first. From day one we focus on building communication, because we’ve seen how communication reduces frustration, supports emotional regulation, increases joy, and helps children grow more independent and confident in their everyday lives.

Every child’s program is individualized. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) assesses your child, writes the treatment plan with you, and supervises the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) who works with your child session after session — the same face, building trust one visit at a time.

What is ABA therapy? Common questions answered

In your home, in our clinic, or both

Our clinic is at 1448 Liliha St, Suite 201 in Honolulu, open Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Many families choose in-home therapy instead, so skills are learned where your child actually uses them. We provide in-home ABA therapy across Oʻahu, including:

Sessions can also blend clinic and community settings, and parent support is available by secure telehealth video when that fits your family best.

What the first weeks look like

1

Reach out

Email us. A real person responds and asks about your child, your family, and what you’re hoping for. We need your child’s name, age, diagnosis, and insurance — that’s it.

2

Insurance and authorization

We verify your benefits, submit the authorization request, and talk to your payer for you. Authorization typically takes 2–4 weeks, and we keep you updated the whole way.

3

Assessment

A BCBA spends time with your child — observing, connecting, learning how they communicate and what lights them up — plus a conversation with you about goals and priorities.

4

Treatment plan

Your BCBA writes a plan around your child, not a template. You review it, give input, and sign off before anything starts.

5

Therapy begins

Sessions start at home, at school, or in the clinic. Your RBT shows up consistently, your BCBA supervises regularly, and you get progress updates.

Parents are part of the team

Parents don’t need to guess about what therapists are doing. You will sometimes be in the session and always be kept up to date, session by session. We track data on every goal so we can show you, not just tell you, that your child is moving forward — and we have honest conversations when a plan needs to change.

Insurance we accept in Hawaiʻi

When a physician or nurse practitioner diagnoses autism spectrum disorder or a developmental disability and orders ABA therapy, medical insurance deems the therapy medically necessary. We are in network with:

Private pay is also available. Get in touch if you want to know how your plan covers behavioral therapy.
