BEHAVIOR CHANGE

Behavior
At Golden Rule ABA, Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA, is a compassionate, team-based approach to helping children learn, grow, and build meaningful skills.
We begin by understanding your child’s behavior without judgment, blame, or bias. From there, we work together to set thoughtful goals that support your child’s needs and your family’s priorities.
Our team includes your child, your family, and the Golden Rule ABA professionals working alongside you. Together, we create a supportive plan designed to encourage positive change, celebrate progress, and help your child thrive.
“Treat others the way you want to be treated.”
Matthew 7:12

Skills
To help each child learn and grow, we begin by getting to know their current skills. This includes identifying what they already do well, where they may need support, and what may be getting in the way of learning.
From there, we create a personalized skills program based on your child’s needs and goals. Different assessments may be used depending on the child. For example, the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program, or VB-MAPP, is often used in schools and clinics to better understand a child’s language, learning strengths, and areas for growth.
At Golden Rule ABA, our team works together with your child and family to build both behavior and skill-development goals. Our goal is to help your child gain meaningful skills, increase independence, and support your family with tools that can be used in everyday life.

Growth
In ABA, progress often happens one small step at a time. At Golden Rule ABA, we celebrate each “small win” because every new skill, positive choice, or moment of growth matters. These small successes help build confidence, motivation, and momentum over time. As children experience progress in manageable steps, they are more likely to stay engaged, keep trying, and continue building toward larger goals. With patience, consistency, and support from both the therapy team and family, small wins can lead to meaningful, lasting change.

Teamwork
Family member(s) are an important part of the behavior change team. By working together with the Golden Rule ABA team, challenging behaviors that interfere with family life, skills learning, and safety, can be reduced and/or eliminated.

Our professional team of behavior analysts and behavior specialists are kind, caring and passionate about helping children and young-adults find more functional solutions to their wants and needs so they are able to stop using challenging behaviors to communicate and get what they want.
