Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), at Golden Rule ABA, is a method of behavior change that involves working to change behavior by first analyzing it without judgement, prejudice, or bias.  After the initial analysis goals are set then a team approach is used to change it.  The team includes the individual whose behavior needs changing, the individual's family member(s), and the Golden Rule ABA team.

"Treat others the way you want to be treated"

Skills

For an individual to learn skills, an assessment of current skills is done, strengths and weaknesses are identified, and a skills program is designed.  Skills program design is based on the type of assessment.  For example an assessment called the  Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) is often used in schools and clinics to identify strengths, weaknesses, and barriers to language development.

Depending on the individual, different assessments may be used to design a program that works toward both behavior and skills goals.  Because of the team approach used at Golden Rule ABA, both individuals and their family member(s) gain skills to increase independence for the individual.
